Katherine Heigl is open about growing up in "a the white bubble." She also explains the impact that this realization has had on the way she raises adoptees who are multi-racial. After speaking with her sister, who was adopted in South Korea she realized just the way society views people of different races. Meg was asked whether the way she was treated differed in the times they went out with their parents and then when they went alone. She answered, "Oh yeah, always!" It made me realize I had been so naive," Heigl said to Parents. Heigl admitted she became upset and believed it was crucial to put her anger towards helping her adoptee daughters. Heigl as well as her 13-year-old husband -- the singer Josh Kelley -- have a 4-year-old son together, Joshua Bishop Kelley, Jr. They adopted Nancy Leigh from South Korea aged 12 in 2009, and then Adalaide who was 8 years older and was Black as of 2012.
