The kids were at the crib, and I was strapped with one of them to my back. Ha! It was beginning to be clear, but was far from done. For furnishing the space, it was going to be an enormous undertaking with regards to time and money. I would also have to do my favourite shopping. My three sons and me were looking for the hidden treasures going to estate sales in order to help ensure that my spending was under control. The schedule we had for the week that included spending the week of Thursday to Saturday scouring estate and garage sales, purchasing new and old objects. The rest of the week sanding and painting the driveway. My first impression was like... that's when my passion to restore furniture was born. Even though our home was fully furnished, I could not stop. At the local market I set up a little area and then sold a few objects. In the end, I accumulated more items that I could decide about and had outgrown the space. In my own home, I would host open houses, where over 1000 guests could visit and buy any item they liked on the 1st floor within a single weekend. Growing Days is the result of all this. Growing Days wasn't just an extremely successful company, it was it was also a loving family. Finding the balance was important to me. I wanted to be a mom as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days just seemed to fit. My precious Nora came into the world in 2013, our fourth baby. My business was booming but I was in need of a break. I decided to quit working on my antique furniture for a while and spend time with my children. It was time. Within a couple of months, my phone started to ring. Many people called me seeking advice regarding home improvements and decor. They had mainly attended my house during the open houses to purchase furniture. I began to take on customers one by one taking my time but it wasn't too for long to have multiple accounts and was running the complete business of home remodeling. Had you told me my venture would end up being an idea for the DIY Network show, I would probably have laughed. It's true that I smile when I think about it.
