Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 in 1980) is an American actress, singer and dancer. Her first Broadway role, she was in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her time working with some of the most acclaimed actors and directors in stage film and television and she is continuing her award-winning project with various upcoming ones. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's current project will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. In the form of a Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney Digital Television's channels. Ashford will be seen alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that brought you Hamilton. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the crisis in America that picked up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment hearings in over a century. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Other Broadway roles for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver origins native, and now splits his time in Los Angeles.
