April Lockhart is a born on July 4th, 1995. In the seventh grade she began taking guitar lessons and piano lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm for songwriting. April Lockhart composed her first song, Different at the age twelve years old. At 14 old, she dedicated long hours making song concepts and perfecting the music. Soon after she began taking trips to write with her father in NY in New York and LA. April also began to include other related topics for some of her peers who are dealing in the area of social pressure and teen suicide in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer who has a growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia together, in addition to being an expert in the field of lifestyle. She was born with no left hand and that creates her unique. However, this isn't the only characteristic of her. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny her handicap. However, it doesn't insist on it. What message is it sending? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and that we're much more than our physical selves. Lockhart through a video message sent from her Nashville home, states I don't want that to be a part of my character. I am far more than just my physical self. My everyday life isn't directly affected by disability. I go about my regular, everyday life and find myself solutions for problems. It's also part of me, so I believe it's important to talk about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart is an absolute inspiration for this aspect. Still, she admits that she went through phases in her life regarding her appearance, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing clothing that displayed her arms. She is able to wear anything she likes, and proudly shares photos of her wearing these clothes. To her, self-love was always a lengthy process. This is a process, and I'm sure that you never reach your destination. It's vital to surround yourself people who are able to see and know your true heart.
